Congratulations to Marisa Walsh for being named our 2020 Supporting the Community Scholarship Winner! We are excited to award Marisa $1,000 to go towards pursuing her medical degree and working toward opening free clinics in her career. Marisa’s essay submission was very moving and we have no doubt her passion and motivation will take her far in her life.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful to have been selected as the recipient of the Rastin Gluckstein Lawyers Supporting the Community Scholarship! Community service has been something that I love doing and is a great way to become socially aware. Starting medical school during a pandemic has stressed the importance of community involvement of healthcare professionals, as it is a great way to build trust. With medical school being so expensive, receiving this scholarship has helped lift some of the stress off my shoulders financially.
After receiving my medical degree from Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, I can see myself specializing in dermatology, emergency medicine, or surgery. Though what specialty I end up in is uncertain, one thing I am positive of is that I will continue to give back to the community. My dream is to run a free clinic in the hopes of giving people the opportunity to free themselves from the vicious cycle of oppression that impacts so many people. This scholarship will help me achieve my dreams and I cannot thank everyone at Rastin Gluckstein Lawyers enough!”
